Locksmith Seletar
Seletar is a planning region based in the Northern eastern of Singapore. The region is bordered by other planning areas that include Sengkang to the Southern region, Yishun and Simpang to the western region, straits of Johor to the northern region and Punggol to the eastern side. It is a modern city with much of its building reflecting modernization. Before the modernization process of the Seletar region began, the area was dominated by a rubber plantation estate. The estate was a property of the Singapore united rubber plantation limited.
The year 1923 saw the Singapore united rubber plantation limited sell a total of 600 acres of their land to the government. The government then gave the land to the British royal air force. This was meant to be used as the military airbase. A major project to construct an airfield began and was complete by the year 1929. The field was later opened officially in the year 1930. The area around the airfield was once called Royal air force station.
The year 1920 saw the construction of Seletar reservoir which is known as upper Seletar reservoir in modern days. The region was identified as a conservation site in the year 1999. The region has scattered colonial bungalows still standing. The bungalows were set up for the military employees of the RAF. The year 2007 saw the government identify a total of 174 of the bungalows that were supposed to be demolished. The demolition was aimed at paving way for construction of the new Seletar aerospace park. The process was meant to retain 204 bungalows some of which were reserved for aerospace training schools. The remaining 131 units were reserved for residential purpose. As seen by the urban redevelopment authority, Seletar borders major planning regions making it a prime region. The geographical location of the region among other factors has contributed to its growth and modern developments as well.
